Different from drive-in systems, drive-through designs facilitate a first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory plan, where the oldest stock is retrieved first. This makes them ideal for warehouses with a higher turnover rate or for businesses that value stock rotation.

Both drive-through and drive-in racking solutions are great for increasing storage density by minimizing aisle space. Typical storage solutions need expansive aisles for lift truck operability, but drive-in and drive-through racks can reduce the quantity of aisles needed in a facility.
