A pallet shuttle is an automated, independent, high density pallet storage system that employs self-propelled shuttle carriages to move pallets toward the back or front in a racking lane. Shuttles are powered by electric motors and travel along rails within a storage channel.
When storing products, a forklift sets pallets in the foremost position in a lane and the shuttle moves the load backward to the furthest available position in the rack until the lane is entirely loaded. For unloading, unit loads are collected from their slot and transported to the foremost position to be picked by a lift truck.
