Pallet Racking & Industrial Shelving

Welch Equipment provides a full range of top quality racking, shelving and mezzanine options, including both new and used equipment. Welch offers attractive terms, in addition to services like engineering, installation, project management and general safety inspection. If you need racking or shelving for your warehouse or industrial facility, we can help!

Cantilever Rack

Cantilever rack is generally used for storage of oversized, bulky or longer products like PVC, carpet roll, lumber, and sheet metal. Cantilever racking uses structural arms attached to an upright at one end. Products are stored perpendicular to the arms, giving lift trucks free access from the face of the structure.

Pallet Flow Rack

Pallet flow racks are set up with gently sloping shelves, surfaced with skate-wheels or rollers. Pallets are loaded from a lane in the rear of the racking structure and they slide down the incline as pallets are unloaded from the face.

This category of storage rack is a “first in / first out” method and is suitable for a large stock of heavy inventory and inconsistent sizes of pallets. They are often used in the beverage industry.

Carton Flow

Carton flow racks are gravity-powered configurations ideal for organizations with many SKUs. Like pallet flow racks, this type of equipment uses sloped shelving with a loading aisle on the high side access and a pick up aisle on the downhill side, allowing a first-in/first-out product inventory rotation. Carton flow equipment is good for piece or split case picking.

Drive In Rack

Drive-in racking is used for high density industrial applications where large volumes of identical items are grouped and stored collectively. Drive-in pallet racking is ideal for applications where full bays of pallets get relocated all at once.

Drive-in racks are configured with overhead beams so that forklifts can be maneuvered into and out of the columns. Pallets sit on parallel rails stationed on the uprights on both sides of the column.

These racking structures enable the forklift operator to travel up to four pallet lengths into the column, position the product in the proper location and then reverse out.
Because these types of pallet racks are loaded from the face, management of goods is in a “first-in/last-out” order.

Push Back Rack

Push back rack setups are high density configurations that use warehouse space efficiently, supporting up to 3,000 pounds in 2-6′ deep bays. All pallets are added and retrieved from the face of the equipment, allowing for extremely dense storage within your warehouse.

Push back racks are a “last in/first out” type of arrangement. As new products are filled in the front, the pallets behind advance up an incline on top of carts on steel rails. The reverse happens as pallets are unloaded.

Selective Rack

Selective racking is the most broadly used type of warehouse storage. These racks consist of load beams attached to uprights using bolts or teardrop connectors. Selective rack is built with either roll formed or structural steel, with the former generally being not as costly and more adaptable.

Standard selective rack implementations are typically designed as “single deep”, which means they have a single length of bays per row. Double deep pallet racks have rows the same height, but twice as wide, so they can accommodate two pallets per bay. Double deep setups are loaded from the face, making them a “first in/last out” configuration.

You can also select different varieties of pallet rack decking and accessories depending on your use case and load capacity. Choose from standard wire decking, solid steel or slotted/perforated steel depending on your specific use.

Boltless Shelving

Besides pallet racking, we offer a complete line of boltless shelving in light, medium and heavy duty options. This style of shelves is suitable for light industrial or shop use, shipping facilities, paper records, parts and dozens of other applications that require lighter weight support.

You can order decks as regular particle board, wire or solid metal decking. No bolts, nuts, screws or other small parts are needed for setting up this style of shelving, making installation a simple task. Add accessories like side panels, work tables, post caps, footplates or tie plates.
